Pencil study of a Toltec relief carving that shows an eagle devouring a human heart. This carving is a detail from the wall of pyramid B in the Toltec center of Tula in the state of Hidalgo. The Toltecs were a powerful force and they were able to take over cities as far away from their homeland as Yucatán, an example is the city of Chichén Itzá which was built by the Mayans but later fell to the Toltecs.
