An oil painting of mayan serpent heads, these serpent heads and more ancient mayan architecture and sculptures can be found in the ruins of Chichén Itza in the Yucatán Peninsula. These heads adorn a staircase near to the Temple of the Jaguars. The ruins of Chichén Itza where later taken over by the Toltecs and the Mayans fled to the Petén region of what is now Guatemala.
