The clouds sit on the peak of the dormant volcano Iztaccíhuatl, as
viewed from the Paso de Cortés. The Aztecs believed that the
mountains were special for this reason, as if they could catch the
clouds. Typical plants and grasses from the Paso de Cortés can be seen in the foreground of the photograph.
